CITEM targets $26 M sales from Taipei food exhibit

MANILA, Philippines — The exports promotions arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has set a $26 million sales target for the country’s participation in the Taipei International Food Show (TIFS) scheduled next week.

In a statement, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) said Philippine firms taking part in the TIFS or Food Taipei are likely to raise $26 million from sales.

Last year, the country’s participation in TIFS yielded $25.83 million in sales.

Among this year’s participants are Destileria Limtuaco (alcoholic beverages), Year Luck (ice cream), and Century Pacific Food (canned meat and fish), as well as first-timers Gaincoco (coconut products), Leonie Agri Corp. (organic agricultural products) and JND Manufacturing Industries (supplementary food).

Through the event, the exhibitors aim to raise awareness on their brands, as well as promote their products in Taiwan, as well as in mainland China.

CITEM, which is responsible for handling and organizing the Philippine delegation to the TIFS, seeks to focus on the country’s natural and healthy food products.

In particular, CITEM wants to promote premium tropical fruits like banana, mango, pineapple, calamansi, coconut products, natural sauces and condiments, and ready-to-eat processed foods and beverages.

TIFS is slated on June 19 to 22 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center and the Taipei World Trade Center.  It will be held concurrently with four other food-related shows such as Foodtech and Pharmatech Taipei, Taipei Pack, Taiwan HORECA and Halal Taiwan.

Through the five-in-one food show, visitors will have access to the one-stop shop for companies, brands and suppliers from all facets and related sectors of the food industry.
