Toyota launches referral rewards program

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The local unit of Japanese car maker Toyota Motor Corp. has launched a referral rewards program as part of efforts to boost vehicle sales.

Under the referral rewards program of Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMPC), individuals who purchased any Toyota vehicle can get up to P8,000 worth of gift certificates when they are able to persuade a friend to buy a Vios.

In particular, every successful sale of a Toyota Vios through the referral would give the referrer P5,000 worth of gift certificates.

When the transaction is made through Toyota Financial Services Philippines Corp., the referrer would be given an additional P3,000 worth of gift certificates.

To avail of the program,  customers need to contact any marketing professional from TMPC’s 69 authorized dealerships nationwide and register the name of the prospective Vios customer, said Cristina Arevalo, TMPC first vice president for brand and product planning.

The promo, which runs until July 31,  does not cover Vios purchases to be made under fleet accounts or a company or government institution.

TMPC will notify successful referrers via email or text message after the transaction is verified.

“There is no limit to the number of referrals, so the more friends you have who are interested in buying a Vios, the more chances of getting rewards!” Arevalo said.

In February, TMPC also started offering special financing deals to make it easier for overseas Filipino workers to purchase the Vios as part of efforts to promote higher sales.

Earlier, TMPC president Satoru Suzuki said the company expects to reverse the decline in sales last year by posting single-digit growth this year.

TMPC, which maintained its position as the leading automotive brand in the country last year, sold 153,004 units, 16.8 percent lower than the 183,908 units in 2017.

As of the end of April, TMPC sold 44,997 units, down 4.9 percent from the 47,307 units in the same period last year.
