EasyCall shifts focus to data-centric technologies

MANILA, Philippines — EasyCall Communications Philippines Inc. is pushing through with its plan to shift its focus toward data-centric technologies following a profitable 2018.

“Our improved net income for 2018 gives us great momentum, especially now as we strive to provide more value-added data-related technology services to our customers for 2019 and beyond,” EasyCall Communications president Zaki Delgado said.

EasyCall, a company which used to be the country’s top provider of pagers, earlier said its planned transformation to become a data technology company would require an initial investment of as much as P50 million.

“We are very excited about this next stage in our history. Right now, we are exploring new opportunities and technologies to complement our existing services,” Delgado said.

According to the company, top organizations around the world in recent years have upped their efforts on big data and analytics, due in part to the increasing complexities and volatility across industries and the continuing demand to innovate and differentiate itself from its customers.

EasyCall was originally registered as a telecommunications company initially engaged in the paging industry and later evolved to engage in contact center outsourcing business and information technology related business.

Acquired by Transnational Diversified Group in 2001, EasyCall shifted its direction following the onset of short message service and text messaging in the 2000s.

In 2018, EasyCall reported yesterday that its consolidated net income after tax reached P55.45 million, a 434 percent increase from the previous year’s P10.37 million.

The company attributed the increase in net income primarily to its acquisition of 11.76 percent of TDG Ventures Inc. (TVI) in November last year.

TVI is the technology and lifestyle operating holding company of Philippine-owned Transnational Diversified Group.
