Philippine Airlines orders modern aircraft in line with 5-star rating goal

MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is adding new modern and technologically advanced aircraft to its fleet in preparation to the carrier’s future development and expansion.

PAL said new modern and technologically advanced aircraft has been placed on order and would be delivered “in the coming years.”

“These new aircraft types will not only result to operational efficiency, reliability and profitability, but will provide comfort and improve the product and service offerings,” the airline said.

For this year, PAL is taking delivery of six new airplanes that are composed of two Airbus A350, two A321neo, and two Bombardier Q400.

The new aircraft is part of PAL’s commitment to continue providing “the excellent flying experience to its passengers on its quest to achieve an eventual five star rating by year 2020.”

Aside from modernizing its fleet, PAL’s development plans also include further expanding its route network.

The airline said the route network expansion would entail the introduction of new destinations and city pairs.

“More flights will be added in secondary hubs such as Clark, Cebu, Davao, and Kalibo. Flight schedules and timings will also be improved to provide more convenience and better connections,” PAL said.

PAL said it would also explore on sales and business opportunities, invest on facility and resource improvement programs, acquire more efficient operating system, optimize flight and ground operations, and constantly prioritize safety.

“Company priorities still include the further development of its competent workforce and provide satisfying careers to the employees. Also, all employees not only front liners, are continuously made aware on the focus on bringing excellent service beyond customers’ expectations,” the company said.

PAL, the country’s only four-star global airline, has an international route network covering 39 cities in 18 countries, and a domestic network covering 39 cities and towns.
