MANILA, Philippines — Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) opened yesterday its “milestone” store in Guam as part of  its continued global expansion as it hopes to be among the top five restaurant companies in the world.

“This was an exciting day for both Jollibee and our many fans in Guam who have awaited the opening of our store here,” said Dennis Flores, president and head of international business.

The standalone Jollibee store is located in front of Micronesia Mall in Dededo, the most populous village in Guam. It has a seating capacity of 205.

The Guam store is Jollibee’s 38th across American states and territories.

JFC recently announced its accelerated North American expansion plan, which includes growing to 150 locations in the US and 100 in Canada over the next five years.

Flores said a huge and diverse group of people who call Guam their home fell in line  to enjoy the Jollibee offerings.

JFC has already expanded its presence in markets such as Manhattan, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The company aims to achieve the same kind of success for its newly-opened stores worldwide given the strong appeal of Chickenjoy and the warm, personal service it has come to be known for, Flores said.

To date, JFC already has 14 brands with over 4,500 stores across 21 countries.

In 2013, JFC became the number one restaurant company in Asia, in terms of market capitalization and is the world’s largest and fastest growing Asian restaurant company.

JFC is focusing on the two largest economies in the world – China and US. It will continue expanding in other parts of the world while sustaining business growth in the Philippines.
