Thai oil giant commits continued investments in Philippines operations

Danessa Rivera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Despite changes in the management in its parent company, PTT Philippines Corp. will continue invest in the country’s operations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.

The company is maintaining a P5-billion outlay in the next five years for its expansion, PTT Philippines president and CEO Sukanya Seriyothin said.

She said the budget is adjusted annually, depending on the pace of the expansion.

“We have been expanding slowly, but surely,” Seriyothin said, “but definitely we are continuing our expansion mode not just here in Luzon, but also in the Visayas.”

For next year, PTT Philippines is looking to exceed the 30 new stations that were targeted in 2018 as part of the continuing expansion of the Thai oil firm in the country.

“We have achieved our 30 new stations target for this year and we hope to raise this target in 2019. So, most likely, we will have more than 30 new stations next year,” Seriyothin said.

By end-2018, PTT Philippines would have around 150 new stations in various parts of Luzon and the Visayas. Some of its newest stations are located in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon.

Meanwhile, PTT Philippines marketing director Thitiroj Rergsumran said the opening of new Café Amazon stores is also part of the expansion.

“We are opening more Café Amazon stores in the Philippines, inside and outside of the PTT gasoline stations,” he said.

“Soon, you will see more Café Amazon inside shopping malls particularly in Tagaytay and Batangas,” Rergsumran said.

Currently, seven Café Amazon stores are already operating, three of them are in Metro Manila (McKinley Hill, SM City North Edsa Annex, and PTT Edsa Munoz). The rest are located in PTT SCTEX (Tarlac), PTT Pulilan (Bulacan), PTT Dasmarinas (Cavite), and PTT Lubao (Pampanga).
