Manila Water bags contract in Tanauan

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led Manila Water Co. Inc. has been awarded the contract to manage the bulk water supply and wastewater services in Tanauan City in Batangas.

In a regulatory filing, Manila Water said it received the notice of award from the Tanauan Water District for the implementation of water supply system and sanitation facilities which will be carried out under a joint venture.

The project has an estimated capital expenditure of more than P1.5 billion over a 25-year contract period.

It is expected to deliver a billed volume of 13.18 million liters per day.

The contract covers the design, improvement, upgrade, rehabilitation and expansion of water supply and sanitation facilities including the financing and construction of facilities and infrastructure in the service area.

Manila Water and its subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. will enter into an agreement with TWD to establish a joint venture company that will implement the project.

The Ayala-led utility firm covers the east zone which encompasses parts of Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, portions of Manila, as well as several towns in Rizal.

The company operates three other subsidiaries –  Laguna AAA Water Corp., Boracay Island Water and Clark Water Corp.
