MANILA, Philippines — ABS-CBN Corp. on Wednesday said it has temporarily taken down two of its online stores due to a reported data breach that likely compromised customers’ personal information and credit card details.

In a press statement, the media and entertainment giant said sensitive personal data of 213 customers of the ABS-CBN Store (store.abs-cbn.com) and the UAAP Store (uaapstore.com) may have been exposed to hackers.

The breach was “isolated only” to the two online shopping websites and did not affect other ABS-CBN digital properties, the company explained, adding that investigation is still ongoing.

The National Privacy Commission has already been informed about the hack.

“We have started reaching out to all our affected customers. We also advise our customers not to give out additional personal and financial information to anyone who may be claiming to be an ABS-CBN representative,” the company said.

“We assure that their privacy and the security of their personal data are important to us and we will take measures to prevent this incident from happening again,” it added.

As of 2:12 p.m. Wednesday, shares in ABS-CBN fell 5 centavos or 0.24 percent to P20.70 apiece at the stock exchange. — Ian Nicolas Cigaral
