Best practices guide to goods importation

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — In the advent of globalization and free trade agreements where tariff barriers are lowered, if not removed, in international trade, importation of goods can be a new source of business. To learn about the secrets of importers, the Center for Global Best Practices will host a pioneering program titled, “Best Practices Guide on How to Import Goods to the Philippines” on Aug. 9, 2018 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City.

This special training will provide a comprehensive step-by-step guide on the whole importation process in the Philippines – from applying for an import license to ensuring the safety and security of the delivery and arrival of your goods. This lecture will also arm participants with the right knowledge and fresh insights to save millions in costs, time, effort and even preventable mistakes committed by most importers. Update on the free trade agreements (with lowered to zero tariff), rate of duty for the top 20 imported products in the Philippines, ways to get a faster customs clearance by unraveling the maze at customs, and many more.

This special program will feature Maria Lydia “Deedee” Ledonio, the author of the book, The Basic Guidelines on Importing into the Philippines: A Handbook for Commercial Importers. With over 25 years of experience in the importing business, she has help hundreds of importers to safely bring in various products from all over the world into the Philippine Market – whether it is for trading or for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. Currently, she is the president of Columbia Transport Inc. (Coltrans) and managing partner of Coltrans Exhibits Inc. She obtained her master’s degree on entrepreneurship from the Asian Institute of Management and her bachelor’s degree in commerce from University of Santo Tomas.
