MANILA, Philippines — The Manila-Hong Kong flight path is one of the busiest international routes, air travel intelligence company OAG said in a report.
Airlines flew a combined 13,270 times between Manila and Hong Kong, making it the 16th busiest air route in the world out of 20 international routes tracked by OAG in its 2018 Punctuality Report.
OAG said the top 20 are based on 2017 full-year data on the largest global routes by total number of flight departures and arrivals.
On average, the route’s operators—Cebu Pacific Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, Philippine Airlines and Philippine AirAsia—punctually arrive or depart 66.42 percent of the time, OAG also reported.
The aviation information provider defines on-time flights as those that arrive or depart within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of their schedule.
OAG gave Cebu Pacific Air an on-time performance score of 54.5 percent while Cathay Pacific Airways, Philippine Airlines and Philippine AirAsia scored 71.6 percent, 64.1 percent and 75.5 percent, respectively.
For this year, the Hong Kong-Taipei route was named the busiest with 29,494 frequencies.
Thousands of Filipinos are employed in Hong Kong, boosting the Philippine economy with billions of dollars in salary remittances to their families each year.
