MANILA, Philippines — Business reporters of The Philippine STAR bagged two awards at the 26th Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) Business Journalism Awards.

EJAP, the premier organization of business reporters and editors in the country, in partnership with Ayala Corp. announced the winners at the Manila Polo Club on Friday.

Iris Gonzales was declared the Best Reporter in Capital Markets, while Prinz Magtulis was named Best Reporter in Finance.

Winners were selected based on the content and style of submitted entries.

The judges for this year’s awards are former finance undersecretary Milwida Guevara, now chief executive officer of non-profit Synergeia Foundation; Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap; former senior vice president of treasury group at Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. Marcelo Ayes; deputy chief operating officer of the Securities Clearing Corp. of the Philippines Juanita Cueto; former president and chief executive officer of the National Power Corp. Cyril del Callar; former director for development information at the National Economic and Development Authority Victoria Quimbo; former trade secretary Gregory Domingo and Ayala Corp. managing director and AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp. president and chief executive officer Rene Almendras.

Philippine Stock Exchange president Ramon Monzon was keynote speaker.

The annual EJAP Awards seeks to promote excellent coverage in  the business sector. This year’s winners each received a trophy, cash prize and an iPhone 7.
