Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Japanese automaker Honda has announced the appointment of a new president for its unit in the Philippines.

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) said Noriyuki Takakura has been appointed as its new president and general manager effective April 1.

Prior to his move to HCPI, Takakura served as managing director and chief executive officer of Honda Australia Pty. Ltd. for four years where he was in charge of Honda's automobile business unit in Australia.

HCPI said Takakura has 15 years of experience in Honda where he gained expertise in product planning, marketing and sales.

Takakura will replace Toshio Kuwahara, who served as HCPI president since 2014.

Kuwahara will be appointed as the new general director of Honda Vietnam Co. Ltd. where he will be assigned to lead both automobile and motorcycle business units.

In the first two months of the year, HCPI sales has reached 3,877 units, up 7.5 percent from 3,685 units in the same period in 2016.

It ranked as the fourth biggest automotive player with a market share of 6.75 percent.
