Robinsons set to open Cebu hotel

MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) is expanding its mid-to-upscale Summit Hotels and Resorts brand across the country.

The property development arm of the Gokongwei Group is set to open Summit Galleria Cebu on March 14.

Situated on a 3.6 hectare lot within the iconic Robinsons Galleria in Cebu, the hotel will have 220 large, well-appointed guestrooms that typically start at 32 square meters.

Summit Galleria Cebu will also have a spa, a gym, a ballroom with a banquet capacity of up to 600, and large meeting and events facilities for higher capacity and multi-purpose use.

Robinsons Hotels and Resorts general manager Elizabeth Gregorio said the hotel is ideal for both business and leisure guests given its close proximity to Cebu’s major transportation hubs.

There will also be an indoor swimming pool with bar lounge area for small private parties.

The hotel is located three blocks away or 1.6 kilometers from Cebu’s major seaports, where passenger vessels dock.

For the food and beverage outlets in the hotel, including room service, RLC has partnered with The Raintree Restaurants Group, the group behind Museum Café, Chelsea Kitchen, Chelsea Grand Café, Rocket Room, Stella, Saboten, and Terraz among others.

The partnership marks Raintree’s first venture outside Manila.

“We decided to invest more in our facilities with the aim of developing the Summit Hotels and Resorts brand and give more value to our customers,” said Gregorio.

Gregorio said the Gokongwei group would launch a new boutique hotel in Cebu city that offers all the hallmarks of the Summit Hotels and Resorts brand — contemporary design, winning partnerships and warm, engaging service.
