PAL offers special Marinduque flights

Louise Maureen Simeon - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will offer two special flights to Marinduque in time for celebration of the Moriones Festival and the observation of the Lenten Season.

Department of Tourism (DOT) MIMAROPA regional director Minerva Morada said PAL would fly to Gasan on March 23 and 27.

The two special flights will significantly cut travel time to the province to only 40 minutes from the average eight hours of travel by land and sea.

“With reduced travel time, tourists will be able to maximize their experience and enjoy the Lenten customs and tradition that make Moriones the country’s longest running Lenten festival,” Morada said.

She added that the region hopes for regular flights to boost tourism and generate investments for the province and MIMAROPA as a whole.

PAL is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and continues to bank on route network expansion, fleet modernization and service innovation.

The airline is looking at approximately 14 million passengers for 2016, up 17 percent from the 12 million it flew last year, and load factor of 75 percent on the back of more aggressive marketing strategies.
