Seminar on labor law for school owners, administrators

MANILA, Philippines - With the clamor of many educational institutions on how to solve people issues brought about by the implementation of K to 12 that will impact all schools in the country, the Center for Global Best Practices is launching a pioneering two-day seminar entitled “Labor Law for School Owners and Administrators,” scheduled on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 18 and 19, 2014 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City, Philippines.

This rare and unique program will cover a thorough and comprehensive discussion on two sets of laws that govern school personnel – Education Law and the Labor Laws for Academic and Non-Academic Personnel. The seminar will provide over 400 slides containing valuable lessons, practical advice, best practices cases and examples to help in school personnel management and administration. This special lecture is applicable to all private educational institutions including pre-schools, primary, secondary, vocational, tertiary, and professional schools.

The seminar will feature one of the very few recognized authorities in education law, lawyer Ulpiano P. Sarmiento III. He has written the book, “Education Law and the Private Schools” which is the most comprehensive book on the subject matter. He also authored the “Compendium of Education Legislation for Private Basic Education”. His involvement in education includes having been chairman of the San Beda College Board of Trustees and currently dean of the San Beda College of Law, Alabang. As a law practitioner, his clients include many of the biggest schools in the country. He is a senior partner of Ulpiano Sarmiento & Marciano Delson and was formerly undersecretary for legal and legislative affairs of the Department of Education, Culture & Sports (DECS).
