Fisher Supermarket offers products at most competitive, affordable prices

MANILA, Philippines - Fisher Supermarket, the country’s newest premier supermarket that sells “galunggong” as low as P85 per kilo, opened its doors last December 10 to serve the daily marketing needs of customers at the most competitive and affordable prices.

Accessibly located at the former site of Pantranco bus terminal at the intersection of Quezon and Roosevelt avenues, Fisher Supermarket of Fisher Mall — the newest mall in the metropolis, offers a unique and exciting shopping experience with products cheaper than in wet markets or bigger supermarket chains.

Fisherfoods Corp. president and CEO Roberto Alfonso “Obby” del Rosario,  who is spearheading Fisher Supermarket which has an area of 3,800- square meters, vowed “to take supermarket experience to a whole new level.”

Obby said his family who owns Mallers Management Corp. which operates Fisher Mall and Fisher Supermarket has decided to soft open the supermarket to immediately market their fresh produce, especially seafood, to provide their customers’ daily protein needs.

Customers who swarmed the mall’s supermarket section were shocked to find out  the freshest low-priced seafood items such as “galunggong” with P85 per kilo.

They eagerly awaited for the opening of the supermarket doors and said it was really worth the wait as they bought live, fresh and low-priced seafood items in bulk.

The fish varieties on display every day are lapu-lapu, pampano, sea bass, tilapia, hito, bangus, among others. Prices do vary daily according to the fishing conditions.

The company invested P2.8 billion for the mall which has a gross floor area of 40,000 square meters, while the supermarket has spent P280 million to date.

“We do not want to rush because quality and safety is important, Obby emphasized noting that the grand opening will only happen on the day “we see fit” as they do not want to compromise the safety of the mall’s structure as well as customers just to take advantage of the Christmas spending rush.

Obby said the supermarket is open at seven in the morning to catch early morning shoppers and provide them with quality products.

Mallers Management Corp. president and CEO Robert Raymond “Ray” del Rosario, Obby’s elder brother who takes charge of the mall’s entertainment side, said the public will also be treated to an advanced gaming atmosphere this month.

Ray added Fisher Mall will have one of the biggest gaming arcades in the country, with as much as 2,400 square meters dedicated to games and playgrounds. The mall will also have five high-definition cinemas that will have that “throwback feel to the 1920s era” when it comes to the interiors.

Obby said they are planning to build another Fisher Mall in Malabon City early next year as a tribute to where their fishing business began decades ago.

The younger del Rosario shared that it was their father, Mallers Management Corp. chairman Roberto “Bobby” del Rosario, who sold the idea of building a shopping mall to sons Paul, Ray and Obby and wife Moleen to give something back to the community.

Bobby, who founded Irma Deep-sea Fishing Inc. in 1976 and currently heads the company, will be supplying a wide variety of fresh and hard to find seafood products. The fishing magnate even challenged big supermarket chains and large wet markets to source their fish from Fisher Supermarket and still sell them cheaper.

“We want our customers to enjoy high quality products without having to pay a high premium.  Customers can surely tell the difference when they taste our fresh seafood.  Our vision at Fisherfoods Inc. is to become the industry standard of freshness, while maintaining more than reasonable prices.  This explains our company tagline, “The Fresh Difference,” Obby said.
