Taas singil sa kuryente, tubig iba pang utilities, paghandaan

MANILA, Philippines — Matapos na pumalo na sa halos P55 kada $1, nanawagan si Deputy Speaker at Bagong Henerasyon Partylist Rep. Bernadette Herrera sa mamamayan na paghandaan ang pagtaas ng singil sa kuryente, tubig at iba pang utilities at papatindi pang inflation na mararanasan sa bansa.

Ayon kay Herrera, dapat ding ihanda ng pamahalaan ang mga kinakailangang subsidiya para sa mahihirap at middle-income househols.

“Local fuel prices will rise further because it now takes more pesos to import foreign oil,” ani Herrera.

Sinabi ni Herrera na lahat ng economic agencies ay dapat maghanda sa nakaambang panibagong pagsirit ng implasyon dahilan sa paghina ng peso kontra dolyar.

Inihayag ng lady solon na umaasa siyang pansamantala lamang ito tulad sa foreign exchange na nasa P54 sa $1 sa Setyembre hanggang Oktubre noong 2018.

“Economic forecasts indicate we will have high inflation for many more months until the inflation pressures have subsided,” anang mambabatas.

Ayon kay Herrera, asahan na rin ang pagtaas ng bayarin sa kuryente, tubig, telecom rates dahil sa forex adjustment costs.

“Most important now is to keep food and utilities prices low or stable. Rice, corn, wheat, sugar, and corn supplies must be enough to meet consumption needs of households and production needs of animal feeds makers and livestock raisers,” saad ni Herrera.

“The economic managers must act fast. They should also be ready for the impact of monsoon flooding, typhoons, and other disasters. Inventories of rice and other relief goods must be adequate and prepositioned,” pahayag ni Herrera.

Hinikayat din niya ang Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) at water regularory agencies na desisyunan na ang mga petisyon at kaso hinggil sa mga refunds at rebates.
