MANILA, Philippines — Hindi pa rin ligtas sa virus ang mga taong nakapagpaturok na ng bakuna dahil maaaring muli silang mahawa ng COVID-19 dahil wala namang perpektong bakuna.

Sinabi ni Dr. Lulu Bra­vo, executive director ng Philippine Foundation for Vaccination na kapag sinabing 95 percent o 70 percent efficacious, may porsyento pa rin na hindi magiging epektibo ito depende sa pagtanggap ng katawan ng isang tao.

Mas lalong hindi dapat magkumpiyansa ang mga bagong bakuna pa lamang dahil sa karaniwang umaabot ng ilang linggo bago makabuo ng ‘immunity’ ang katawan ng tao, ayon sa United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“That means it’s possible a person could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination and still get sick. This is because the vaccine has not had enough time to provide protection,” ayon sa inilabas nilang bulletin.

Sa oras na lumarga na rin ang ‘vaccination program’, maaaring maapektuhan din ito ng pagkontrol sa temperatura sa iba’t ibang pagkakataon at lugar hindi tulad ng mga ‘clinical trials’ na kontrolado ang kapaligiran.

“It (bakuna) prevents serious disease. It prevents dying from the COVID. It prevents from being hospitalized from COVID but up to now, we still are not able to get the numbers how much it can prevent the transmission,” dagdag pa ni Bravo.
