Biyahe ng MRT-3 ititigil dahil sa 186 COVID-19 positive workers sa linya

MANILA, Philippines — Pansamantalang ihihinto ang operasyon ng Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) kasunod ng tuloy-tuloy na pagdami ng nagpopositibo sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sa kanilang mga manggawa't empleyado, pagkukumpirma ng Departmnent of Transportation (DOTr), Lunes.

Hapon nang sabihin ng DOTr na 186 na empleyado ng MRT-3 at maintenance provider na Sumitomo na nakakitaan ng nakamamatay na sakit. 

Sa bilang na 'yan, 11 ang ticket sellers, tatlo ang driver ng tren, dalawa ang control center personnel habang isa naman ang nurse mula sa Taft station.

"As resolved by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), and following the increasing number of personnel who tested positive for COVID-19, the MRT-3 will temporarily suspend its operations starting Tuesday, 07 July 2020," sabi ng DOTr sa isabg pahayag.

"The temporary shutdown will be undertaken to give way to RT-PCR (swab) testing of all MRT-3 personnel, including those of its maintenance provider and subcontractors, to prevent further spread of the disease, and, most importantly, to protect the health and safety of both its personnel and commuters."

Tatagal nang limang araw ang temporary shutdown hanggang ika-11 ng Hulyo, o kapag nakumpirma ng RT-PCR testing ang kinakailangang bilang ng negatibong personnel para maipagpatuloy ang limitadong biyahe.

Dahil diyan, maaaring humaba o mapaiksi ang shutdown, depende sa lalabas na mga resulta ng RT-PCR testing — ang "gold standard" sa pagsusuri ng mga pasyente ng COVID-19.

"Out of MRT-3’s more than 3,200 workforce, it will require at least 1,300 [negative] personnel to be able to resume limited operations," patuloy ng DOTr-MRT-3

"Currently, 964 additional negative personnel are required to resume."

Isasagawa ang testing ng mga kawani ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa Palacio de Manila swabbing center habang tinutulungan ng Philippine Red Cross. 

Magsasagawa ng matindihang disinfection ng lahat ng pasilidad ng depot, istasyon at tren habang nakasarado ang linya.

Sasaluhin ng MRT-3 Bus Augmentation Program ang mga pasaherong maaantala ang biyahe sa pamamagitan ng 90 bus, na darating kada tatlong minuto.

Dagdag niyan, 150 bus naman ang itatalaga para sa EDSA Busway service, na magdadala ng pasahero mula Monumento at Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx).

Tatakbo rin ang isang "mini loop" sa pagitan ng Timog Ave. at Ortigas para magserbisyo sa mga mananakay. Maglalagay ng mga shuttle services at mini buses diyan kung saan pwedeng maghatid-sundo. — James Relativo
