Unang petisyon vs Anti-Terror Law inihain sa SC

MANILA, Philippines  — Inihain kahapon sa Korte Suprema ang kauna-unahang petisyon na kumukuwestiyon sa Anti-Terrorism Law na nilagdaan kamakalawa ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sa pamamagitan ng electronic filing, inihain ang Petition for Certiorari and Prohibition with Urgent Prayer for the Issuance of the TRO and Writ of Preliminary Injunction and /or Other Injunctive Remedies ng iba’t ibang grupo sa giit na may mga paglabag ito sa Saligang Batas.

Kinabibilangan ito ng grupo na pinangunahan ni Atty. Howard Calleja, De La Salle brothers sa pangunguna ni dating Education Secretary Brother Armin Luistro, at ilang Civic groups.

“While threats to our national security need to be addressed, the law, as crafted, is oppressive and inconsistent with our constitution, hence, the petition,” ayon sa Bantayog ng Bayani.

Sa darating na Lunes (Hulyo 6), magtutungo ang mga petisyuner sa Supreme Court para sa personal na paghahain ng nasabing petisyon.

Nasa 11 sections ng nasabing batas umano ang pawang unconstitutional o taliwas sa Saligang Batas
