DOH sinagot ang diumano'y shortage ng HIV meds
MANILA, Philippines — Nai-deliver na raw ang panibagong batch ng mga libreng anti-retroviral drugs (ARV) para sa mga may human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) sa mga treatment hubs sa bansa ayon sa Department of Health (DOH).
Inilinaw 'yan ng DOH matapos lumabas ang mga balitang nagkukulang na ang suplay ng gamot para sa mga positibo sa HIV. Reklamo ng ilang pasyente, ubos na ang kanilang ARV.
"We are aware of news circulating online that there is shortage of the antiretroviral drugs. We hear your concerns and we have taken measures to ensure continuity of the treatment for PLHIV (people living with HIV)," sabi ng DOH sa Twitter ngayong umaga.

Kung hindi kasi makaiinom ng gamot ay maaaring magtuloy-tuloy sa acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) ang mga taong nakararanas ng HIV, bagay na maaaring ikamatay ng pasyente.
Tumataas din ang posibilidad na maging drug resistant ang taong may HIV kung magmimintis sa pag-inom. Para sa mga magiging drug resistant, posibleng hindi na tumalab ang gamot sa pasyente kahit na muling uminom nito.
Pinahupa naman ng DOH ang pangamba ng marami.
"The latest data, as of January 4, confirms that Nevirapine has already been delivered to the 16 treatment hubs to meet the requirements for February-April 2019," ayon sa DOH kaninang umaga.
"For Lamivudine/Tenofovir, a month's supply has also been delivered to Regions X, VI, and I. The rest of the regions will expect deliveries within this week," dagdag nila.
Nakikipagtulungan na rin daw ang DOH sa kanilang suppliers para masigurong hindi sila mauubusan.
"In fact, we are waiting for deliveries of additional 12,375 bottles of Nevirapine good for another three months and 7,024 bottles of Lamivudine-Tenofovir good for another two months," dagdag ng departamento.
Sa tala ng DOH nitong Disyembre, mayroong 3,200 pasyenteng kumumuha ng gamot na Nevirapine habang 1,791 naman ang tumatanggap ng Lamivudine/Tenofovir.
Matatandaang naipasa na noong Disyembre ang Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act na layong palakasin ang programa ng gobyerno kontra HIV at AIDS.
Umabot na sa 276 na ang namamatay mula sa HIV/AIDS mula Enero hanggang Hulyo 2018 habang 32 ang nahahawa ng HIV kada-araw ayon sa DOH.
