Aguirre ipapalit ni Digong kay Lim, Espinosa sa kulungan kung...

MANILA, Philippines — Ipapalit ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II sa kulungan kung sakaling tuluyang maabswelto ang businessman na si Peter Lim at ang umaming drug dealer na si Kerwin Espinosa sa mga kasong may kinalaman sa ilegal na droga, ayon kay Presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

“Pag nakawala yan si Lim at Espinosa, siya ang ipapalit ko,” wika ni Roque na ayon kay Duterte.

“I will invoke my power of supervision and control and will dismissal,” dagdag pa aniya ng pangulo sa isang Twitter post.

Dahil dito, bumuo ang Department of Justice (DOJ) ng isang panel na hahawak sa pagkakabasura ng mga kasong may kinalaman sa ilegal na droga na inihain ng Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) laban kina Lim, Espinosa, at iba pa.

Palaisipan para kay Duterte ang dismissal ng mga kaso gayong aniya ay umamin na mismo si Espinosa sa isang congressional hearing na isa siyang drug distributor.

“Nag-amin na nga sa Congress. Why not admit it as evidence against him?” sambit ng pangulo.

Inihayag naman ni Aguirre na ang pagaabswelto sa mga kaso ay hindi pa tapos dahil titingnan aniya ng binuo niyang review panel ang motion for reconsideration na inaasahang ihahain ng PNP-CIDG.

 “The current status of the case against respondents Peter Lim et al does not mean that it is a final exoneration of their respective criminal liabilities. Under our present procedure in the DOJ, there are possible avenues to review this case, whether by a motion for reconsideration or, ultimately, by way of automatic review by my office,” ani Aguirre.

Dagdag pa ng kalihim na ang pagkakaabsuwelto nina Lim at Espinosa ay may epekto sa kampanya ng pamahalaan kontra ilegal na droga.

““This dismissal is a slight bump in the war against drugs. It is likewise a wake-up call to all concerned that our efforts, from apprehension to resolution to conviction, must be concerted and thorough,” pag-amin niya.

Nauna rito’y sinabi ni Roque na nababahala ang Palasyo sa pagkakawalang-bisa ng mga kaso ngunit tiniyak niya sa publiko na hindi pa pinal ang nasabing desisyon.

“We would like to assure the public that the dismissal is far from being final,” pahayag ng tagapag-salita ng pangulo.

Samantala, nilinaw ni Roque na ang dismissal ng mga kaso laban sa naturang mga drug suspects ay hindi makakaapekto sa kaso ni Sen. Leila De Lima.

 “The basis of the case filed against Leila de Lima is different... In (the case of Lim and Espinosa), the DOJ said there is no probable cause. But in the case of Leila de Lima, the (regional trial court) is not the only one that declared that there is probable cause. Even the judiciary said there is probable cause,” sabi pa ni Roque.
