Foreigners pinalalayas ni Digong sa Benham Rise
MANILA, Philippines — Inutos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ngayong Martes ang pagpapaalis sa mga dayuhan sa Philippine Rise o mas kilala sa tawag na Benham Rise.
Sinabi ni Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol na ipinatigil ni Duterte ang marine explorations at studies ng foreign scientists sa bahagi ng katubigan ng Pilipinas.
"Let me be very clear about this: the Philippine Rise is ours and any insinuation that it is open to everybody should end with this declaration," wika ni Duterte sa kaniyang Gabinete kagabi.
Pinakilos ng pangulo ang Navy, Air Force at ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources upang paalisin ang mga dayuhan.
"Henceforth, only Filipino scientists will be allowed to conduct researches and exploration in the Philippine Rise," sabi pa ni Duterte.
Nag-ugat ang isyu matapos payagan ng Department of Foreign Affairs ang China na pag-aralan ang Benham Rise.
Kaagad namang dumipensa si Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano na aniya’y para ito sa ikabubuti ng bansa.
Nabatikos naman si Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque matapos niyang sabihin na walang kakayanan ang mga Pilipino na pag-aralan ang Philippine Rise.
