Pahinumdom ngadto sa atong mga kandidato

Niining nagsingabot nga eleksyon, ato na usab pahinumdoman ang mga kandidato, labi  na ang pagka-Representante ug pagka-Senador mahitungod sa mga kabalaka ug mga pangandoy sa mga senior citizen bahin sa hingpit nga pagpatuman sa RA 9994 kon ang Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.

Pananglitan (makadaghan na kita makahisgot niini dinhi): kining regular nga pag-review ug pag-upgrade sa retirement benefits both sa mga pensioner sa GSIS ug SSS.

Atong kutluon pag-usab ang specific provision: “Retirement benefits of retirees from both the government and the private sector shall be regularly reviewed to ensure their continuing responsiveness and sustainability, and to the extent practicable and feasible, shall be upgraded to be at par with current scale enjoyed by those in actual service.” (Art. 11, Sec. 6)

Ang IRR kon Implementing Rules & Regulations sa RA 9994 nagsitar nga ang pag-review himuon matag tuig. Gihimo ba kini sa GSIS ug SSS? Kon ila kining gituman, dakudako na unta ang atong pension gikan sa SSS. Way kaso ang GSIS kay dagku man sila’g pension itandi sa SSS.

Gibut-an usab (Sec. 5-(c) nga “Throughout the country, there shall be establish a senior citizens ward in every government hospital.” (Art. 17, Sec. 1 & 2) Gituman ba usab kini sa atong mga government hospitals?

Dugang niini, ania kining uban nga mga provision nga nagpabilin sa papel: 1% allocation from the national & local budgets for the plans and projects of senior citizens & PWDs (Sec. 33 of GAA-2008, RA 9496); Establishment of housing units for the elderly (Art. 17, Sec. 1 & 2);  Establishment of Senior Citizens Centers in all cities & municipalities (RA 7876);

Free medical & dental services in government facilities (Art. 11, Sec. 3); Free vaccinations for indigent seniors against influenza virus & pneumococcal disease (Art. 11, Sec. 4).

Ug ang tinguha sa mga senior citizen nga masakop sa mga legislative bodies o mga konseho sa lalawigan, mga dakbayan ug kalungsoran, ug sa kabarangayan. Kon adunay barangay captain ug SK Chair nga sakop sa konseho, nganong dili man mo-qualify ang mga senior citizen?.

Ug nia pa, ambot unsay nahitabo sa mga balaudnon nga makabenepisyo unta ang mga  senior citizens, sama sa Elderly Abuse, Creation of National Council for the Welfare of Senior Citizens,  Positive & non-violent discipline of children, ug  Magna Carta alang sa mga day care workers?
