Cordova eyed as ‘Sentosa of Cebu’

CEBU, Philippines — Business stakeholders in the Municipality of Cordova in the island of Mactan are initiating moves to groom the town as the ‘Sentosa’ of Cebu.

And to realize this, business owners in Cordova are now bent on creating its own chamber of commerce organization.

This is to prepare the town for its expected economic growth with the anticipated opening of the third bridge and the installation of the 1,500-hectare SM Cordova Reclamation project, said Cordova-based Performance 360 Solutions Inc., chief executive officer (CEO) Michael Cubos.

Cubos, along with other businessmen in Cordova including restaurateur Bunny Pages, are spearheading the creation of the Cordova Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

According to Cubos, the group will ask the assistance of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), where Cubos and Pages are also serving as officers.

Aside from making Cordova as the ‘Sentosa of Cebu’, in coordination with Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho, Cubos said he also commits to help push the development of technology and outsourcing sector in the town to give residents good employment opportunities.

Sentosa is an island resort off Singapore’s southern coast, connected to the city by road, cable car, pedestrian boardwalk and monorail. Just like Sentosa, Cordova will be positioned as the “crown jewel” of tourism and business in Metro Cebu. (FREEMAN)
