YLAC`S 70th Founding Anniversary

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor Ynclino - Philstar.com

Unbelievable but true! Yes, the Young Ladies Association of Charity (YLAC) has been in existence since its founding 70 years ago. With an all-women membership since its birth, the YLAC has always been supporting less-privileged children in the community.

Thus, last September 22, the YLAC celebrated its 70th year of “Collaboration in Educating the YLAC Youth.” The celebration started with a Holy Mass concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Russel Rupecio with Homilist Rev. Fr. Ulrich Schlect, SVD. After the Mass, a short program and fellowship followed at the Cebu City YLAC Building with lawyer Merle P. Cunanan, president of Cebu City YLAC School Foundation, giving the welcome address, followed by Mrs. Bettylina Palanca who did the Rationale of Event. After which, the most loyal of all, the lady with undeniable passion, perseverance and love for YLAC… Mrs. Vilma Cornejo Lee, chairman emeritus of Cebu City YLAC School Foundation delivered a speech… “YLAC Through the Years”!

I was with the YLAC for 20 years, and during our time we worked hard enough to support the YLAC School. We had to solicit financial support from the different big companies and the affluent. We didn’t have so much difficulty asking from those companies because the management and people behind the companies were very supportive to our mission.

Delivering the closing remarks was the present president of Cebu City YLAC, Mrs. Erna Casals, who thanked everyone and all for the many wonderful things they did for YLAC. And we doff our hats to all the ladies who never stop supporting the YLAC until this day. May your tribe increase! PTL!
