City COVID count surges past 6,000

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City recorded 152 new coronavirus cases yesterday, pushing the total number of cases past the 6,000-mark.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the city climbed to 6,142 as of 6 pm yesterday, according to the City Health Department’s daily bulletin.

Of the number, 2,688 are active cases.

The new cases with the biggest bulk came from Barangay Capitol Site, which recorded 23 cases.

The other new cases were from Barangay Guadalupe, 14; Barangay Lahug, 14; Barangay Apas, 13; Barangay Camputhaw, seven; Barangay Quiot, six; Barangay San Nicolas, five; Barangay Mambaling, five; Barangay Bacayan, four; and Barangay Lorega, four.

On the other hand, Barangays Banilad, Hipodromo, Kasambagan, Labangon, Pahina Central, Pardo, Punta Princesa, Sambag II, San Antonio and Talamban registered three cases each.

Barangays Bario Luz, Budlaan, Inayawan, Mabolo, San Nicolas Proper, Sta. Cruz, and T. Padilla added two cases each, while Barangays Basak Pardo, Bonbon, Bulacao, Busay, Cambinocot, Carreta, Ermita, Guba, Kalunasan, San Jose and Tisa logged one case each.

Also, two new cases were reported from unverified areas.

Recoveries, Death

Moreover, the health department announced yesterday 90 recoveries and one death from Barangay Ermita.

The new recoveries bring the total number to 3,233. The deaths, on the other hand, are now 221.

The lab-negative patients were from Barangay Sawang Calero, 37; Barangay Calamba, 27; Barangay Basak San Nicolas, 11; Barangay Cogon Ramos, four; Barangay Labangon, three; Barangay Sambag II, three; and Barangay Guadalupe, two.

Barangays Bulacao, Talamban and Tisa also got one recovered patient each. KQD (FREEMAN)
