Nataptan og HIV nisaka ang gidaghanon
CEBU, Philippines — Sobra sa 7,000 na ang gikatahong gidaghanon sa Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) ang nataptan sa Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) karong tuiga matud sa ACTS-OFW Coalition of Organizations.
“The cumulative number of OFWs confirmed as HIV-positive could reach more than 7,200 by the end of the year, at the rate new cases are being discovered”, matud ni ACTS-OFW chairman Aniceto Bertiz, III sa gipadala nga press statement.
Gikan sa buwan sa Enero hangtud sa Mayo niining tuiga aduna nay 444 ka bag-o nga kaso sa mga OFW nga positibo sa HIV diin nisaka kini og 21 porsyento gikan sa 369 sa samang buwan sa tuig 2018.
“We would urge returning OFWs who suspect that they may have acquired HIV while working abroad to get themselves tested and treated early, so that they can continue to live economically productive and healthy lives”, ni Bertiz pa.
Ang mga OFW nagrepresentar kini sa 10 porseyento sa 67,395 ka kaso sa HIV base sa lista sa National HIV/AIDS Registry sa buwan sa Mayo niining tuiga.
Si Bertiz nagkanayon nga ang mga OFW nga narehistro nga nagtrabaho sa gawas sa nasud sulod sa lima ka tuig nagtrabaho sa kadagatan ug sa mama sa dihang na diagnosed sa maong sakit.
