Courtesy spells a difference in other people's life

There are times when our day gets ruined because of some people’s behavior. To prove my point, here’s a story about a woman who have experienced this.

"Our office provides us with paid parking slots in a building close by. One day, I got a vile note on my car from the person who parked next to me. Apparently, he was irritated with the way I parked my car.  Admittedly, I didn’t always pay attention to that matter but he could have said it in a nice way. But, I chose to love.  I said sorry in the nicest way possible and ever since, I have paid attention  to the way I park.

"It is easy to show courtesy to people you like or people you owe a favor to or people in authority. But, St Paul said, 'Show courtesy to everyone.' Returning a phone call, replying to a text, returning borrowed things on  time, sending a thank you message to the janitor who cleans out the trash everyday — the opportunities are endless. Whether we feel like  it or not, whether it’s convenient or inconvenient, with the grace of God we can do it. We extend courtesy to  everyone until it becomes a part of us and it becomes an act of love. We do it with a smile, not only because we have made others happy but because we have obeyed the Word of God.” ( Living Water  2012)

Everyone loves or likes people who are courteous and kind. They make other people’s day.  There was a story of a man  who worked in a hotel and  was  approached by an elderly couple who wanted a room for an overnight stay. He told them that he was sorry because all the rooms were fully booked. The couple were dismayed. When they were about to go out, the man called them and told them that they could stay in his room. The couple was so happy and was profusely thankful. After two years, the man received a letter from the couple. He was offered as manager of their newly built hotel in New York.

Why is courtesy important?  According to “bitlandersd website,” courtesy has  a great importance in our daily life. Courtesy means good manners and polite behavior. A kind word is a very little thing but it has a great impact in our life and sometimes these kind words give us a better world.

Here are some insights on the importance of courtesy as cited by our source:

Kindness not only enhanced  the personality but have a great noble effect on the character.  A person who is kind and his behavior is polite, people would naturally like him. But if the person is rude and ill mannered, no one will like him. Courtesy is not bound for the special class. Courtesy is  free from the classes.

Courtesy is a  profitable thing  because when you show kind behavior to others as a result they will also respect you.

The respect of elders, love of younger, take care of neighbors, help  friends and class fellows, and taking care of parents are manifestation  of good manners.

As a final shot, here’s a food-for-thought from a unknown writer,” I pass this world  but only once; Any thing  that I can do or any kindness that I can  show, let me do it now. Let me not defer it, for I shall not pass this world again.”
