Mane attraction
MANILA, Philippines - ICYMI on Facebook Live: The third Tresemmé Runway Ready backstage-to-runway show inspired by the Keratin Smooth range was all about wearable show-stopping hair.
Modern edge: Jerome Lorico x Henri Calayag
Jerome Lorico’s return to the runway calls to mind a retrofuturism with a rebel heart. Henri Calayag, known for his sleek bobs, tempers the pompadour with a polish on Lorico’s muse Joey Mead-King. “There is a sense of confidence with having your hair swept up from the forehead. Kings have crowns, lions have their mane, and some birds have huge plumages. It invokes pride and power. For me, it conveys a certain energy that makes the person not just sleek, but daring and more modern,” says Lorico.
City sleek: Ivarluski Aseron x Victor Ortega
Ivarluski Aseron worked with nothing but black and allowed the form of his structural silhouette with the sensuality of mesh to speak for itself. “My pieces are inspired by the clean lines and sleek look of the gorgeously long and straight hair trend,” says Aseron, a look exemplified by Martine Cajucom whose straight, long hair served as Victor Ortega’s canvas.
Modern Elegance: Mark Bumgarner x Lourd Ramos
“Soft, smooth, feminine, long, my pieces take inspiration and are made to match the season’s bold twists,” says Bumgarner. Mark Bumgarner softens structured ensembles in red and nudes with his signature feminine flair. Lourd Ramos completes each look with surprisingly wearable various renditions of the modern twist on Sarah Lahbati. Smooth, straight hair is gathered and twisted low on the nape, or on the side to frame the face to create a romantic yet modern look.
