Almonds and coffee, cellulite warriors

Chonx Tibajia - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Hips don’t lie. Cellulite is a fact of life for the skinny, the fat, and the skinny-fat. Like badges of honor, they magically appear once you’ve learned to hold your liquor, pay taxes and select a perfectly ripe avocado from the bin. It’s an adult thing, and you probably still have it even though you exercise three hours a day. Creams that claim to get rid of cellulite do help — the idea is not to slather it on and then marinate on the couch. You’re no spring chicken, pun intended.

L’Occitane’s latest product, the Almond Refining Concentrate, claims to reduce that “orange peel skin” effect by 12 percent. The star ingredients are caffeine, almond oil and pressed almond extract, which has firming and sculpting properties that work to visibly reshape the body. The almond gives it a scent so delicious that you’ll forget you’re using it because your thighs are a bit lumpy.

How does it work? The pressed almond oil in the Refining Concentrate stimulates skin back to firmness. Meanwhile, caffeine, which has been proven to be an effective toning agent in creams, has a slimming effect. Together, in a rich, intoxicating formula that makes you want to lie down and sleep right away, they smoothen, tone and nourish skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Also included in the range are L’Occitane Almond Firming and Smoothing Milk Concentrate, which has a yummy gel-crème consistency, and L’Occitane Almond Delicious Hands, a dessert-scented cream that moisturizes hands and nourishes nail beds.

While you wait for the cream to work its magic, you can try bronzing. An instant tan also means instant toning, and will make your thigh dimples less visible.
