MANILA, Philippines - It’s that wonderful time of the year. Christmas parties left and right — and yet you still have nothing to wear. Ditch the sequined dresses and go merry-merry with the oft-mocked ugly Christmas sweater. The iconic (and often, super-cheesy) Christmas knit is often seen as something your grandparents would wear — which isn’t always the worst thing, but hey. Remember the reindeer sweater that actor Colin Firth’s character Mark Darcy wore in the Bridget Jones series? The same sweater that was auctioned off at Christie’s for thousands of pounds. In the news this week, even the Royal Family had a Christmas sweater treatment through Madame Tussauds’ wax figures. The ludicrous knit with all its prints from candy canes to Santa’s face in bright red and green shades is having a moment. ‘Tis the season to be jolly and wear your not-so-ugly Christmas sweater.
