Welcome to the neighborhood

David Milan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - It was just two years ago when the first ever Adidas Originals Neighborhood concept store opened in Mitte, the central borough of cooler than thou Berlin — home to club kids, trendsetting early adopters, Europe’s creative class, and the three-striped brand itself Adidas.

It was created to separate the Adidas Originals line that is solely dedicated to street style clothing and footwear.

With street and sneaker culture at an all time high in the past few years, more and more countries have adopted the “neighborhood” concept by opening their own stores — each one almost aesthetically identical — stripped down concrete walls, racks crafted from steel and wood, crate as decorations — all resembling inner-city infrastructure. Some stores even have a wall that is a 3D rendered map of the neighborhood’s location and a lighting system that resembles a city’s transit grid.

From New York to Japan, Adidas Originals Neighborhood concept has finally arrived in the Philippines. Opening just yesterday, the store carries a wide array of shoe styles with fan favorites like the NMD, Stan Smith, Tubular, Superstar, ZX Flux, and the comeback kid Gazelle. The store also carries the BLK WVN apparel line that is said to be in sync with Adidas Originals shoe of the moment, the NMD.

In this YStyle exclusive, we give you the first look at the first ever Adidas Originals Neighborhood concept store.
