Daddy issues

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Dads haven’t had the most fashionable of reputations — it would just be a rotating uniform of casual to the occasional business suit, if they could help it. But that’s probably reflective of dads themselves: solid, steady individuals who’ll stick around through both the fun and tough times.

It’s that spirit of tenacity that retail brand Fred Perry salutes this Father’s Day. From June 17 to 19, Fred Perry Philippines brings back Fred Perry Café for the fourth time. Teaming up with drinks crafters EDSA BDG to set up coffee shops in Fred Perry Power Plant, Greenbelt, and SM TriNoma, while 32 Umber Café & Co. takes on their Ayala Center Cebu branch, fathers and sons can chill out over a hot brew — absolutely free of charge. Even dogs get to join in on the fun, as throughout the weekend Fred Perry Pups will visit each mall to greet anyone dropping by for a cuppa.

To anyone keen on dropping by, Fred photographers will be around to snap dads and families for a nice memento, which they can claim and share real-time through the store’s complimentary Wi-Fi. And while the coffee is certainly good, this might just be the best place to pick up a gift beyond the necktie or Number One Dad mug variety. Add to the uniform and get him a nice shirt to change up the rotation. If anything, you’ll do anyone’s dad a real solid that way.
