Lily-Rose Depp is the new face of Chanel No°5 L’Eau

MANILA, Philippines - A frequent haute couture front-row fixture (toujours in Chanel, of course), Choupette’s new bestfriend, and heir-apparent to Keira Knightley’s reign as the quintessential Chanel muse — actress Lily-Rose Depp has been chosen as the face of the campaign for Chanel’s new fragrance Chanel No°5 L’Eau.

Depp is already the face for Chanel’s Pearl eyewear collection launched in September 2015. But this is her first major beauty campaign – as per the house, “she embodies her generation and its values of freedom and boldness to perfection, bringing to the iconic fragrance of the House, her youthful freshness and beauty.”

Depp herself took to Instagram, posing with a giant version of a Chanel perfume bottle with the announcement: “I am so excited to announce that I am the face of the new Chanel No°5 L’Eau!”

Created by in-house perfumer Olivier Polge, L’Eau is the sophisticated younger sister to the maison’s classic, flagship fragrance Chanel No°5. In its fifth and most youthful incarnation, Depp follows the footsteps of former campaign stars; supermodel Gisele, actors Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman.

The 17-year-old daughter to actor Johnny Depp and French singer/actress/model Vanessa Paradis (a former ambassador herself for Chanel’s Coco Chanel fragrance), Lily-Rose Depp is touted as an overnight icon to the Insta-girl generation, all the while working on her nascent career as an actress. She will soon star in three films: Yoga Hosers directed by Kevin Smith, Planetarium directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, and The Dancer directed by Stéphanie Di Giusto and competing at the Cannes Film Festival. 

The full campaign for Chanel No°5 L’Eau is set to debut later this year, with a Chanel fragrance film (par for the course) directed by Swedish director Johan Renck – the auteur behind David Bowie’s music videos.
