YStyle’s rainy day #feels playlists

We have too many feelings!' exclaims fashion editor Carla V. as we put our playlists together, and we all agree. There’s no better — or perhaps worse — time for all these feels than the rainy season, when the skies seem like they’re always crying because you just won’t do it for yourself.

Here comes the rain again

Portishead — Roads

Hearing this song on vinyl is what convinced me I needed a record player, and it’s the first record I put on when it starts to pour. It may be 20 years old, but it’s still as moody, potent, and painful as ever.

Eyedress — Nature Trips

Dark, intense, and evocative, this song found me on a bad day and stayed with me. “I just wanna forget everything that’s making me feel bad,” Eyedress pleads. Me, too, man.

Radiohead — All I Need

Unrequited love: You’ve been there. I’ve been there. We don’t need to talk about it, we can just listen to Thom Yorke croon our lives into our ears in ways more painful than we can recall actually experiencing.

Placebo — Without You I’m Nothing (feat. David Bowie)

The only way to improve upon perfection (which this song is) is to have David Bowie do guest vocals on it. “You’ve never seen the lonely me at all,” I mean, come on, I don’t even need to explain this one.

Wise men say, it looks like rain today — again

By now, you must know that a rainy day playlist is essential. While I love these songs whatever the weather, like many things, they become magical in the rain. Stay indoors, only fools rush in. — Chonx Tibajia                                                         

Joni Mitchell — A Case of You

The album is called "Blue," and I am not quite sure if it alludes to the color or the feeling, but this song triggers a landslide of both. Not to be consumed in tandem with alcohol. Oh no, no, no.

Feist — Comfort Me

The song goes, “When you comfort me, it doesn’t give me comfort actually.” Much like the deceptively soothing sound the rain makes when you’re a hundred feet aboveground, safe and sound in your little box.

Led Zeppelin — When the Levee Breaks

This song’s warped, slowed-down tempo makes for a perfect blackout jam. The record spins, your mind spins, the world goes into a whirl — all while it warns you. If it keeps on raining, your dam of feels is going to break.

Home alone

There’s something about the torrential downpour that just makes you want to overindulge in your feelings. Don’t. Play it out with these subtly seductive tunes, stay home, and stay out of trouble.— Carla Villanueva
