D.A nangandam sa posibleng huwaw
CEBU, Philippines – Ang sektor sa mag-uuma ug mangingisda mao unya’y labing apektado sa umaabot nga taas nga huwaw o El Niño nga gibanabanang mahitabo sa katapusang kwarter sa 2017 o sa sayong kwarter sa tuig 2018.
“We will lay down this early preparatory measures to protect the Filipino farmers and fishermen from its ill-effects,” matud pa ni Secretary Manny Piñol sa Department of Agriculture (DA).
Niluwat si Piñol sa maong pamahayag human nipahimangno ang Australian Weather Bureau nga ang Pacific Ocean mo-init na usab ug ang maong El Niño makaapekto sa pangisda ug mopatay sa mga lagutmon.
“The Philippines and other poor countries in the region will have to prepare for another climatic threat,” matud pa ni Piñol sa usa ka press statement.
Dugang niya nga kabahin sa preparasyon mao ang pagbutang og Small Water-Impounding Systems (SWIS) ug Solar-Powered Irrigations Systems (SPIS).
Ang DA naggahin na og P165 milyones alang sa SWIS nga gilangkuban kini og cloud seedings ug makigtagbo usab si Piñol ni Presidente Rodrigo Duterte alang sa maong SPIS sa tibuok nasud.
Dugang niini nga mohangyo usab siya og P20 bilyones nga budget alang sa agrikultura sa tuig 2018.
“Coordinative efforts with other agencies, especially the National Irrigation Administration for the early release of irrigation water for the next planting season will be carried out to ensure that El Niño will not hit the next harvest,” matud pa ni Piñol.
Kahinumduman nga miigo ang El Niño sa nasud sa tuig 2015 ngadto na sa sayong bahin sa tuig 2016 nga niresulta og negatibong epekto sa natad sa sektor sa agrikultura ug pangisda. -/DILT (BANAT NEWS)
