JTF Pacific rules softball slo-pitch tilt
MANILA, Philippines - Last year’s second placer JTF Pacific crushed local team Cebuana Lhuillier 21-7, to rule the recently concluded three-day Pureplay Slo-pitch Softball International Tournament at the Clark International Sports Complex.
The event drew 15 teams, including 11 foreign teams, with the South Korea-based K6 Athletics ruling the A Division with a 16-8 whipping of Shanghai in the finals. The Bangkok Soi Dawgz outhit the Hong Kong Turkeys, 12-6, in the Club Division championship.
The event was organized by Pureplay Sports Management and co-presented by the Global Clark Assets Corporation and sponsored by Tequila Reef Cantina, Gail Print Corporation, and Palazzo & Co. LLC.
Enroute to the finals, JTF clubbed the Guzzlers,14-5, while Cebuana Lhuillier edged out Fattboyz, 13-12 in the semifinals of the tournament also held in memory of the late Shirley Prado who, with founder George Hodges, organized the tournament since it began as the Pangea Cup 24 years ago.
In the A Division, K6 Athletics disposed of Entom Tigers, 24-1, to set up a finals’ meeting with Shanghai which defeated the Kings team from Taipei, 16-8.
