Governor wants copy of ‘narcolist’

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III wants a copy of the list of suspected drug personalities from President Rodrigo Duterte.  Davide said he will ask Department of Interior and Local Government-7 director Rene Burdeos to give him copy of the president's list.

"Niingon man siya nga iyang ihatag ang lista sa mga DILG directors, so akong plano ani, akong kontakon si Director Burdeos ug akong pangayuon ang lista sa Cebu lang pud," Davide said.

Duterte showed the governors during a meeting in Malacañang last week a 500- page document allegedly containing names of officials protecting the illegal drug business.

Davide said Duterte did not let them see the list during the meeting but promised to give them copy through the DILG.

The governor said he wants to know who are involved in Cebu aside from those already named by Duterte.

"May unta'g wala ko sa lista. Kun naa ko sa lista, dili nalang ko mangayo," Davide said in jest.

He said he will take part in the future operation "Tokhang" of the police to show his full support to the anti-drug campaign of the administration. Davide said he also wants to experience himself how it is to convince a suspected drug pusher and user to surrender.

He, however, clarified that while he is supporting the anti-drug campaign but he is not in favor of extra-judicial killings.

"Of course, di gyud ko uyon. We can never condone extra-judicial killings," he said.

Davide said he will discuss with Cebu Provincial Police director Senior Superintendent Eric Noble the schedule of the "Operation Tokhang" that he wants to take part.

"We will discuss it pa with Noble kun asa. Di lang kaayo layo. Basin sa Cordova or areas nga grabe ang drugs," Davide said. — Izhar Seth Aloy (FREEMAN)
