PFF, Gawad Kalinga launch SipaG program

MANILA, Philippines – This video contains highlights of the launch of the Gawad Kalinga SipaG program in Greenhills, San Juan City today. 

Launched in partnership with the Philippine Football Federation, the GK SipaG program is the manifestation of Gawad Kalinga’s concerted effort to focus on sports, specifically football, in developing the youth and building a strong values-based program for beneficiaries in GK communities. 

The program traces its roots to 2005, when various stakeholders came together to promote grassroots football within underprivileged communities as a tool for nation-building.  

Today, the program is in 15 GK communities, helping close to 500 youth. It aims to use GK communities as centers of recruitment for street football, partner with Barangays in helping communities through the sport, and eventually spreading the advocacy of football as a tool for development through the 2,000 communities GK has built nationwide.(Video by Cris Cayanan)
