Responding when disaster strikes

MANILA, Philippines – During the recent nationwide earthquake drill, the National Disaster Coordinating Council in cooperation with the Department of National Defense, Office of Civil Defense and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology led the simultaneous demonstration exercises in Makati, Ortigas, and Quezon City.

The second quarter drill, featuring hazardous material response, fire suppression, collapsed structure search and rescue, high angle rescue, helicopter hoist/rescue, mass casualty incident management and building evacuation have been expanded beyond school campuses and now include business districts, hospitals and government offices, including military and police camps. .
