MANILA, Philippines — Leonardo di Caprio finally bagged an Academy Award for his lead performance in "The Revenant" by Alejandro González Iñárritu, who also won as Best Director.

"Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted. Thank you so very much," Di Caprio said in his speech.

Named Best Picture was "Spotlight," which presents an ensemble cast and produced by Michael Sugar, Steve Golin, Nicole Rocklin and Blye Pagon Faust. The film follows the investigation into the abuses by clerics in the Massachussetts area.

Best Actress winner Brie Larson ("The Room) thanked moviegoers for still paying to see films, while Best Supporting Actress Alicia Vikander ("The Danish Girl") was emotional in thanking her parents for the belief that "anything can happen."

The top six awards were given out and clips of the speeches are seen in this video by ABC Television Stations.
