Premiere retail giant Rustan's launched its multi-brand selection last week, partying up with a travel theme and generally catering to the jet-setter customer. Makes sense, given the Fall and Winter season we don't have here.

Life is colorful, isn’t it? Watching the city grow, with widening skylines, fresh roads and new spots to explore, it seems like things can’t help but become interestingly better. However, I’m also noticing that these changes come at a price. To keep up with the new scene and social networking sites, there’s a subtle compulsion to augment one’s lifestyle, often self-imposed and peer-driven than anything else.

There are a few occasions where it’s perfectly acceptable for people to tell you what to wear. But outside of weddings, diplomatic functions or work-related occasions, I can’t stand it when people say, “You shouldn’t wear that.”

While I would not intentionally turn anyone into a floating head by applying a lighter shade of foundation, it’s true. Most women here want to be lighter-skinned.

My love affair with high heels began at age 14, when I realized that adding a few more inches to my diminutive height gave my teenage self-esteem a much-needed boost. Although I stopped wearing heels in college, I eventually started collecting them the moment I entered the world of fashion blogging.
