The late 1980s were an exciting time for comics books. Marvel Comics was in the midst of an incredible run where its creators were turning out character defining stories for the X-Men (Chris Claremont & John Byrne), Fantastic Four (John Byrne), Thor (Walt Simonson), and Daredevil (Frank Miller). DC Comics was in its post-Crisis On Infinite Earths phase and came out with two game changing books in Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns.

The Asia Pop Comicon press conference took place yesterday at Salon de Ning inside The Peninsula in Makati City. Some of the celebrities that are going to be present at the four-day event made appearances and talked about what fans should expect and even revealed some of the great things that they should look forward to when they participate in the biggest pop culture gathering in Asia at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

La Salle had problems containing NU's two guards - Gelo Alolino and JJ Alejandro - who conspired for 31 points between them and nearly finished off a comeback. While in several instances, their players were lost in the maze of switches and screens scrambling to get a hand on either Alolino or Alejandro, they generally played good defense.
