Shabu found on CPDRC roof

Brenda D. Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Despite the heightened security measures being implemented at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, drug smugglers are still able to find ways to sneak drugs into the jail.

It was confirmed by the officer-in-charge of CPDRC, Roberto “Bobby” Legazpi, after a pack of shabu got snagged on the roof last week. It was allegedly thrown by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men into the jail.

Legazpi said the pack of shabu was rolled inside a paper with two pieces of coins as weight. The guards got suspicious that something illegal may have been caught on the roof because two people knocked on the gate and asked permission if they could climb onto the roof to get something.

The unidentified persons immediately left the place when the guards refused to allow them.

Meanwhile, K-9 dogs are scheduled to be deployed inside the jail this week. Legazpi is hoping that the drug sniffing dog will help solve drug smuggling in the facility.

Legazpi admitted that from time to time, they are still able to confiscate communication gadgets from the inmates. — FPL
