MANILA, Philippines — Want to cruise with your favorite celebrities?

Reportedly due to overwhelming market response from last summer’s “Jewels of the South China Sea” itinerary, Star Cruises, touted as "Asia’s Leading Cruise Line," recently announced that one of its luxury cruises, SuperStar Virgo, will be making its home port return to Manila from March 5 to May 29.

From its new home in the capital of the Philippines, Virgo will offer guests a brand-new summer voyage to two of the top Asian travel destinations with journeys to the beautiful islands of Okinawa, Japan and dynamic Taiwan.

To add a new layer in this year's itinerary, the cruise recently announced its themed trips: "The Greatest Hits Cruise" featuring '70s Filipino hit makers The Boyfriends and VST & Co.; "The PBA Legends High Seas Tour" in which Philippine Basketball Association legends Alvin Patrimonio, Benjie Paras, Johnny Abarrientos and Jerry Cordillera will be giving basketball clinics to kids on the cruise; "Labor Day Party" to be top-billed by disc jockeys Tom Tau and Patty Tiu of Deuce; Mother's Day cruise; and "Pororo at Sea," in which cartoon character Pororo and friends will entertain kids on summer vacation.

Said to be the only international cruise liner to home port in Manila, the new summer cruise from Manila will provide a scenic journey to the popular tourist hotspots of Naha and Ishigaki in Okinawa, Japan, and the vibrant port city of Keelung, Taiwan, with easy access to Taipei. The five-night cruise will allow Filipinos to tour around some of their most favorite Asian destinations with no visa required, said Ang Moo Lim, president of Star Cruises.

“An important market, it is our goal to continue to support the Philippines’ tourism industry by providing both local guests and the regional fly/cruise market with fun, convenient and hassle-free vacation options for multi-generational holiday-makers," he said.
