TripAdvisor: Boracay among top islands in Asia

MANILA, Philippines - Recently named by TripAdvisor as one of the best islands in Asia, Boracay truly has not yet lost its allure. 

The gem housed in Aklan province ranked seventh on TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice awards for Islands 2016 in the Asia category, maintaining its position last year.

Famous for its fine white sand and vibrant night life, the world's largest travel website mentioned Yapak Beach (Puka Shell Beach), Ariel's Point and White Beach as spots not to be missed when visiting the famous island. It also noted that the island is best enjoyed during the dry season.

"At only 4.5 miles long, Boracay is small enough to navigate by rented bicycle or motorbike. But don't let its small size fool you—you'll have several excellent beaches to choose from. Yapak Beach is known for beautiful white shells; White Beach has picture-perfect sunsets; and Balinghai Beach is a secluded spot, perfect for honeymooners," the website writes.

Last year, Boracay was included in Conde Nast's list of top beaches. With an average score of 80.856, it ranked at the 15th spot. The magazine described the island as "with powdery white sand and shallow azure water." 

“The islands in Asia have long been celebrated for their beauty and for the tropical escape they provide to global travellers around the world,” said Janice Lee Fang, Communications Director, Asia Pacific, for TripAdvisor. She also recommends booking vacations at any of Asia’s top islands during the shoulder season for savings of around 24 percent.
