Shangri-La Mactan welcomes summer

MANILA, Philippines - Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu is the ultimate venue for a fun, water-loving summer getaway.

At the center of this getaway is the resort’s 350-meter beach cove, where guests may enjoy a range of exciting sea sports, including paddle boards, jet ski,  kayak, banana boat, parasail, snorkel and scuba diving, supervised by qualified instructors who ensure guests’ utmost safety.

Guests can delight in the added thrill of swimming with the schools of tropical fish that make their home in the Shangri-La Marine Sanctuary. Spanning six hectares from the resort’s beachfront, the sanctuary is home to more than 100 species of aquatic life, including angelfish, banner fish, butterfly fish, clownfish, clown sweetlips, lion fish, pipe fish, puffers, wrasses and giant clams.

Another popular water-related activity is fish-house-building, where guests learn how fish houses become artificial reefs or how human-made underwater structures are built to promote marine life.

Using cement, broken corals and rocks, the completed fish house serves both as a refuge and as a nesting ground for the fish to care for their young. Guests have the option to inscribe their fish house and participate in resting these in the marine sanctuary.

The resort has two pools: a multilevel pool with a children’s area and water slide, and an infinity pool facing the beach. Children can make a big splash with the resort’s brightly colored water slide, where they can enjoy the exhilarating rush of zooming down into the main pool. Toddlers are not left out of the fun with the Aquaplay that includes three slides and a rainbow shower.
