Green Faith Travels celebrates Pahiyas Festival
MANILA, Philippines - Green Faith Travels lets its pilgrims experience this year’s Pahiyas Festival, one of the country’s most colorful fiestas and perhaps the greenest faith celebration as the annual ecological pageantry honors the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro Labrador, on his feast day on Wednesday, May 15.
Pilgrims join Lucbanins in Quezon in observing religious traditions and merry-making for another year blessed with bountiful harvest. They will attend the Fiesta Mass at six in the morning, followed by a procession along the route of beautifully decorated houses called the Pahiyas route and witness the so-called grand parade with carabaos and their harvest, parikitan couples of young men and women dressed in organic materials, higantes (giants), carts of pancit habhab (local noodles) and brass bands.
Pilgrimage fee of P1,800.00 per person covers round-trip transport via air-conditioned coaster (good for 21 persons), breakfast, lunch and water. Deadline of full payment is extended until Wednesday, May 8.
Formed last year as a non-profit faith and environment advocacy group of church servants, Green Faith Travels has adopted the mission of leading Catholics who seek healing, uplifting or rejuvenation in their faith or life through spiritual journeys.
The group has also firmed up plans for its second Marian Pilgrimage of Faith and Heritage in Pangasinan on Saturday, October 20, to celebrate the Holy Rosary Month.
Marian devotees will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag; Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Dagupan City; Saints Peter and Paul Parish Church and Shrine of Señor Divino Tesoro in Calasiao.
