Manila Hotel offers ‘Visita Iglesia’ room package

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Visita Iglesia, which literally translates to church visitations, is an age-old tradition introduced by the Spanish colonizers. This practice can be traced back to the time when early Christians would go and visit the seven great basilicas in Rome.

Today, Filipino Catholics around the world still practice the Visita Iglesia, and here in the country, family and devotees would go to different churches for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and to pray the Stations of the Cross.

This Lenten season, take a tour of the most iconic and historic churches in Manila with Manila Hotel’s Visita Iglesia: Manila Revisited room package.

This room package includes a guided tour of Basilica of San Sebastian that has a revival of Gothic architecture and the only all-steel church in Asia; San Augustin Church, the oldest church in the Philippines and declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in June 1993; St. Vincent de Paul, more popularly known as San Marcelino Church where you can find the life-size image of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal; and Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, more popularly known as Quiapo Church.

Other churches that are part of the tour are Sta. Cruz Church, Nuestra Senora de Remedios or Malate Church, and San Lorenzo Church in Binondo. Guests will ride tranvia and horse-drawn carriages to go around Manila with certified tour guides from Castillan Carriage and Tour Services.

This room package also includes breakfast at Café Ilang-Ilang, complimentary use of the pool and Health Club facilities, and complimentary Wi-Fi connection.

The Visita Iglesia: Manila Revisited room package is available from March 25 to 29. Price starts at P8,600 net.
